Dinwiddie Sports Club hosted the 180 Plus Dart Development Training Day organised by Mr. Stephen Maphike (Development Director Gauteng Darts Federation). It was a very informative day for the various Association Development Directors and the Development Team from ESDA.
Several youths and school educators attended and were all trained in what is needed to implement the 180 Plus Dart Development Program in various schools throughout Gauteng.
The purpose of the programme is targeted at learners at Primary and High Schools and is in line with the Department of Education's principles and aims at increasing awareness and to encourage participation in the sports of Darts.
The program incorporates the MOD system (Mass participation, Opportunity and access and Development and growth).
Our objectives are to provide a more inclusive Sporting Mode at schools, to inspire youth regardless of their ethnicity, faith or athletic ability to play Darts. Skills such as strategy, etiquette, character building, interpersonal skills and good Sportsmanship are taught and it even helps improve mathematical skills.
The entire idea of the program was developed in 2019 by Mr. Alister Porthen from Mitchells Plain when he was elected as the MPRA Development Officer with the vision of having the program introduced in all schools in all Districts and Provinces throughout South Africa. This program calls for hard work, commitment and sincerity and this program is for our kids, our Future Champions.
Get your children involved in an excited sport!
